Meet Ashley Taylor.

Ashley danced with Ballet Theatre of Maryland from 2014-2018 and has since performed freelance soloist roles with several contemporary ballet companies, including a featured role in a collaborative performance at Carnegie Hall. Ashley’s choreography has been presented by Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Dumbo Dance Festival, River Dance Festival, Ballet Hartford’s Awakening Festival, Keystone Contemporary Ballet, VidaDance Company, University of Alabama Department of Theatre and Dance, and in independently produced concerts. Most recently, she was selected to create a new work for Neville Dance Theatre to be performed at their On Pointe Dance Festival in May 2026.

Ashley is the founder and director of Ara Dance Project, a project-based company that illuminates the intersection of the human and the transcendent through the beauty of movement. She has produced, directed, and choreographed for multiple independent concerts that have been presented at the New York City Fringe Festival, Manhattan Movement and Arts Center, and at the 255 West event space in Annapolis, Maryland.

Ashley is on faculty at Cobble Hill Ballet in Brooklyn and teaches additional master classes. She holds a B.A. in Dance (summa cum laude) from The University of Alabama, where she performed with Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre and Tuscaloosa Community Dancers. Her choreography was selected for multiple faculty-adjudicated Dance Alabama! student choreography concerts and she was a 2014 recipient of her department’s Edith Barnes Award for Choreography.

Originally from Virginia, Ashley is an East Coast girl at heart and a lover of beauty, books, coffee, fitness, theology, and conversation. She is obsessed with the creative process and believes that art should inspire us to become more than what we are.
